The Nokia SR Linux Revolution has begun

Yesterday, 3/28/2024 the heart of Silicon Valley pulsated with the excitement of technological innovation as industry leaders gathered at OpenColo’s headquarters for a Lunch & Learn event co-hosted by Nokia, OpenColo, and Hula Networks. Amidst the humming servers and blinking lights of OpenColo’s state-of-the-art data center at 3223 Kenneth Street in Santa Clara, California, tech enthusiasts and professionals converged to witness the dawn of a new era: the Nokia SR Linux Revolution!

In an electrifying atmosphere charged with anticipation, attendees were treated to a firsthand exploration of Nokia’s cutting-edge SR Linux network operating system (NOS) for data center fabric networks. Gone are the days when Nokia was solely synonymous with cell phones; today, it stands as a formidable routing powerhouse with its roots dating back to TiMetra in 1990’s, and subsequent integration with Alcatel in 2003. Notably, a staggering 70% of fiber broadband lines in North America are powered by Nokia, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in network routing infrastructure.

The event, graciously hosted by OpenColo, a longstanding Nokia customer, guiding the audience through the intricacies of the Nokia’s SR Linux NOS was Scott Brookshire, Chief Technology Officer of OpenColo, who, alongside Karim Radhouani, Technology and Architecture Engineer, and Erwan James, Principal Product Line Manager at Nokia, engaged in a lively and informative dialogue. Topics ranged from real-time telemetry reporting and application customization to scalability, flexibility, reliability, performance, and security—pillars upon which SR Linux stands tall.

Scott Hobin, CEO of Hula Networks, echoed the sentiment of excitement surrounding Nokia’s innovative technology, stating, “As a partner, we are thrilled to sell and service Nokia’s products and technology offerings.” With Hula Networks serving as a valuable VAR of network hardware and services, the future of networking appears brighter than ever.

The Lunch & Learn event served as a testament to Nokia’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the realm of data center network infrastructure. As the Nokia SR Linux Revolution gains momentum, it’s evident that the landscape of networking is undergoing a seismic shift—one that promises enhanced efficiency, security, and performance for businesses and individuals alike.
